Rustica Unassembled Kit Door Guide
1. In some areas of the country we see more damage than acceptable when kits doors are shipped unassembled in a ground shipping box, so it is possible that a kit door may ship in a crate via a freight carrier so that your beautiful door arrives without damage.
2. If shipped put together in a crate the overlays will be left to be installed on site. We recommend that you attach them with pin nails, wood glue or (if neither of those are good options) you can use ½” wood screws (not included and not recommended).
3. Many Rustica door kits have the same options as the recommended Rustica assembled doors but are offered with a more economical price.
4. Door kits do not have a warranty against warping, separating or splitting.
5. It is possible that your kit door may come unassembled and need to be assembled using the 7 inch lag screws through the side of the stiles.
6. For both Kit and Assembled doors... the hardware (hangers, handles and pulls) are not installed and the doors are not pre-drilled which allows every installation the ability to make any unique changes needed.
Inspired by the French Renaissance. "French Doors" are doors with bigger glass areas and were intended to maximize natural lighting as indoor lighting was limited to candles, lamps and furnaces. Neighboring countries were quick to adopt this design, giving credit to the French Renaissance by calling it, quite simply, “French Doors”
Due to the style of the metal frame this door only uses top mount hangers.
Since most of the handles we offer require drilling or screwing into wood and this door is a metal frame, they are not compatible with this door. We have several front and back combo handles that attach to the metal frame.
We offer "U" shaped door guides (floor and wall install options) that "hug" the door is a practical solution.
Yes. However you will notice a small difference. The backside has removable stops in case the glass needs to be replaced.
Yes. We use engineered lumber, which is solid lumber, for the stiles and rails which increases the doors strength and reduces warping and twisting. There are a variety of center panel options and if the center is wood, typically solid wood is used. Some styles use an MDF center panel to create the desired look.
We offer you, the customer, several wood species options to choose from. Each wood species has unique characteristics and since we use solid wood, the wood species characteristics will be present in the door.
