How to Install Double Barn Doors
Installing bi parting barn doors is simple with a barn door kit. To get started, you’ll need:- Two barn doors
- Barn door track
- Hangers
- Header board
- Hardware, including in your kit
- Drill
- Drill bits and sockets (details in your barn door kit)
- Measure for your header by taking the height of the door and add 2 ¼ inches to get the center line for the track. Make sure to add ½ inch to the bottom for the guide and 1 ⅝-inch to the top of the door.
- To install the header board, first mark where the studs are located. Then, drill screws into the header board to each stud (on the top and bottom of the header board).
- Install the barn door track to the header board using lags, stops, and spacers. Drill each lag and stop together into each hole in the header board in the track with the spacers on the back side.
- Install the stops for the bi parting barn doors in the center of the track in the same way. Put a spacer behind the track and put the stop behind the hole in the lag.
- Create the holes for the hangers in both barn doors as per the instructions in your barn door kit and install the hangers using the hardware provided.
- Install the pulls according to the instructions provided.
- Hang the doors on your installed barn door track.
- Install your floor guide following your instructions, so your door doesn’t swing.
- Add the anti-jump brackets on the outside of the barn doors, keeping a 1/16 to 1/8-inch gap from the top of the jump to the bottom of the track.
