When ordering a door with hinge prep, you may be wondering where the hinges will be installed. The hinge placement varies based on the thickness of the door. Rustica’s doors come in three different widths 1-3/8", 1-3/4", and 2-1/4".
A 1-3/8" thick door will have three hinges. The top hinge is placed 7" below the top of the door. The bottom hinge is placed with 9" between the bottom of the hinge and the bottom of the door while the last hinge is evenly spaced between the top and bottom hinges.
On a 1-3/4" thick door the top hinge is drilled in at 6-3/4" from the top of the door. The bottom hinge is placed with 8-3/4" between the bottom of the hinge and the bottom of the door while the last hinge is evenly spaced between the top and bottom hinges.
For a door that is 2-1/4" thick, the top hinge is installed 6-1/2" below the top of the door. The bottom hinge is placed with 8-1/2" between the bottom of the hinge and the bottom of the door while the last hinge is evenly spaced between the top and bottom hinges.
