Artisan Spotlight - Agustin Plascencia

This week we are spotlighting one of our expert woodworkers, Agustin Plascencia. Agustin has been at Rustica for over 6 years, learning and growing his woodworking skills. Inspired by the beauty each door brings to a customer's home, Agustin’s favorite door to build is our Chevron Barn Door!

Although Agustin works with all different types of wood, his favorite wood species is alder because it is easy to work with and he loves how natural the rustic finish of alder looks. Agustin’s favorite tool to use in the shop is the wood sander because a simple piece of wood becomes a work of art after a little sanding.

Doing things more efficiently is something Agustin strives to do, he loves teaching others how to get their job done easier.

Agustin’s DIY Tip:

“To fix the knots in wood use sawdust and glue instead of bondo or putty for a more natural look.”
