Your particular installation environment will determine the width that you should order.  

If you want to install the anchor legs into the brick mold around your door you will likely want to order the Securus Awning to be 1 inch narrower than your outside brick mold to outside brick mold measurement.

If you do not have your door installed yet you may want to consider ordering the Securus Awning to be at least 6 inches wider the the width of your actual door so that it anchors outside of your trim. If you have wider trim you should consider a wider awning.
