Where to put Barn Doors/Hardware in your home

One of the best things you can do for your home, in regards to both space and design, is to put in a Sliding Barn Door track system. Way to often we find ourselves maneuvering around these poorly placed hinged doors that swing into a skinny hall or constantly bump someone as it swings into a small room. Doors like this can drive a person to feeling claustrophobic, even in decently sized homes. It’s not the walls that are not closing in, it’s swinging doors!
Don’t get me wrong, swinging doors are necessary in a lot of places but why did they become the standard? Why would an architect spec out a door that swings INTO my 3’ X 5’ half bath when I have more than enough wall space to put a sliding door that takes up zero space? Sliding Barn Doors just make sense in more cases than one. On average, space enthusiasts are finding that there are 3-5 places, in their homes, where they would prefer a sliding door to a hinged door.
Also, isn’t it strange that the status quo has become so mundane? Why is every door white with that Six Panel design? With Barn Doors you bring functional art to your room. When decorating, homeowners will spend a good amount of money to fill up their wall with all kinds of expensive decor when you should be saving space/money by putting up Barn Doors that look great and add a unique touch to your home.
In my humble and correct opinion, your home is where you spend the majority of your time so it should look and feel good. Do yourself a favor and become unhinged!
