How to Choose a Front Door Color

Thursday November 5th, 2020
The first impression of your home is determined first by the exterior appearance! Your exterior appearance, believe it or not, includes your front door. Yep, your front door can determine whether or not your guests are going to feel welcome in your home, whether or not they are going to want to enter your home, and whether or not they are going to want to come back! Selecting the correct color and style of front door is crucial for a lasting first impression and we are here to help!

Picking the correct color for your front door can be tricky due to the many different elements there are to take into account. First you should determine how you want your guests to feel when they look at your home. Here’s a few questions to ask yourself:

“Do you want your front door to blend in or make a statement?”

“Do you want your front door to be welcoming or personal?”

“Do you want your front door to match the style of your home or do you want to mix styles?”

Once you’ve taken a second to determine the overall feel of your front door it’s time to pick a color! The color of your front door plays a huge factor into the first impression of your home. If you want the exterior of your home to give off a welcoming appearance colors like turquoise, bright blue, coral, yellow, orange, and dusty blue will help you do that!

Front door colors that will help your home's exterior appearance make a statement include black, green, barn red, indigo, and maroon!

If you want your home to blend in but portray style colors like brown, white, or a natural wood stain will help you do that!

Lastly, if you’re going for a front door that stands out but doesn’t necessarily make a statement colors like teal, navy blue, blush pink, or light green are great colors to pick from!

Now, picking the style of your front door is a whole other story! Stay tuned for next weeks blog post where we will talk about different front door styles and how to pick the best one for your home!
