This week we are spotlighting Michael Hartley, expert in hinge door preparation and woodworking! Seeing the doors he's worked on and prepared leave the paint booth with a beautiful finish on them is what inspires Michael to continue creating and building.
Michael's favorite door to build is any of our Rustica doors with wood, glass, and a metal grid. Michael's favorite wood species is Hickory because of its beautiful contrast of light and dark grain. Michael also admires Hickory because it's durable and a great hard wood for doors.
Woodworking and assembling doors each day, Michael's favorite tool to use in the shop is his Mirka Sander because it's easy to work with and last's a lifetime! Michael's favorite part of his job is the great people he gets to work with.
Michael's DIY Tip:
"Glue two sanding disks together - back to back. Cut into pieces and you have a small, rigid, double-sided sanding block for detail sanding."
