Artisan Spotlight - Joe Leventhal

This week we are spotlighting an expert in all things paint and finish work, Joe Leventhal, also known as "Joe the Painter"! Joe has been painting for over 18 years and specializes in our fine finishes here at Rustica. Continually inspired by high-end and fine finishes, Joe challenges his painting expertise with custom projects and new state-of-the-art techniques and technologies. Joe's favorite finish to paint is any of our Rustica finishes that require a glaze over top.

Joe's favorite wood species is Hickory:  "When we finish any hickory door in our glaze finish the results are always heavenly."

Working with different finishes daily, Joe's favorite tool to use at work is his OIFA Small Razor Blade and his Air-Assisted Airless Sprayer. Joe’s favorite part of his job is the different personalities he gets to work with and watching the growth of his team of painters.

“When painting, make sure all of your paints are compatible with each other.”

Fun Facts about Joe:

• Joe has been running the Rustica softball team for 5 years now and took home a championship in 2019.
• Joe likes to play basketball, football, and softball.
• Joe enjoys kickboxing and weight lifting. 
• Joe loves spending time outside hiking, fishing, and just finding water to play in.
